Vodafone McLaren Mercedes have officially denied recent Spanish media reports that former driver Pedro de la Rosa is set to return to the Formula One team.
It had been alleged that the 40-year old Spaniard met with former boss Ron Dennis after the McLaren Executive Chairman was spotted in Madrid last week.
A McLaren spokesman exclusively revealed to MOTOSPORT.COM, "Ron Dennis was indeed in Madrid a few days ago, but media reports suggesting that he met Pedro de la Rosa are incorrect."
De la Rosa joined the team in 2003 as test and reserve driver before replacing the NASCAR bound Juan Pablo Montoya midway through the 2006 season. He then returned to his original role after loosing out to Lewis Hamilton on a race seat with the team for 2007.
