McLaren and Toyota start Paul Ricard test

Testing started at the Paul Ricard High Tech Test Track in France on April 13th with McLaren and Toyota the two teams on duty. McLaren had race drivers David Coulthard and Kimi Raikkonen first and second fastest respectively, Coulthard's best a 1:07.833. The duo is scheduled to continue for the next two days, then Alex Wurz and Pedro de la Rosa take over on Friday.

Toyota race driver Crsitiano da Matta and tester Ryan Briscoe were third and fourth respectively, around a second down on the McLarens. The pair completed over 200 laps between them. Olivier Panis is due to join the test later in the week, while da Matta and Briscoe continue tomorrow.

Rubens Barrichello was the sole Ferrari on track at rainy Fiorano, completing 46 laps and setting a best time of 1:01.610. Barrichello will be at Fiorano again tomorrow and team tester Luca Badoer will be at Vairano with Andrea Bertolini. Italian Bertolini raced in the FIA GT championship and test-drives competition cars for the Ferrari Maserati group.

In the UK Jordan is on track at Silverstone, while Jaguar, Renault and Williams are expected at Paul Ricard tomorrow.
