Minardi only confirmed Bas Leinders as its official third and test driver this morning, March 3rd, when it launched the new PS04B in the paddock at Melbourne's Albert Park, but it seems there may already be a problem.

Leinders, who raced in the Nissan World Series the last two years, is to be Minardi's third driver in Friday practices at race weekends but he might not make it on to the track this weekend. The 28 year-old doesn't yet have a super license.

Leinders will need a special dispensation from other teams, as well as the FIA, to be granted the license. "It is not yet confirmed," he said "The deal was made too late, normally it takes two weeks. I hope to be driving on Friday -- but it could be worse."

"I will be driving in Malaysia, but I would really like to know this track. I haven't done the 300km to get the Superlicence, my CV is good but rules are rules. It's realistic. But it is 50/50."
