Multi award winning musician and actor Lenny Kravitz has today been announced as the headline concert act at the 2014 Formula 1 Russia Grand Prix.
The American singer-songwriter,
Kravitz is one of the biggest and best-selling rock stars in the world with a hugely successful career stretching back over nearly three decades. He won the Grammy Award for Best Male Rock Vocal Performance four years in a row from 1999 to 2002, breaking the record for most wins in that category as well as setting the record for most consecutive wins in one category by a male. He has also been nominated for and won other awards, including American Music Awards, MTV Video Music Awards and BRIT Awards and in recent years has embarked on a very successful acting career, with his most eye-catching role to date being that of Cinna in the Hunger Games franchise.
Lenny Kravitz’s concert is not the only highlight for visitors of the inaugural Russian Grand Prix. Indeed, some of Russia’s best musical artists will be delivering their own special performances for F1 fans over the course of the race weekend. On Friday, October 10th, visitors to the Grand Prix will be able to witness the awesome DJ Rudenko, famous for his soundtrack for the Nations Parade at the 2014 Winter Olympics opening ceremony, delivering one of his spectacular sets on the main stage.
On Sunday, October 12th, right after the 2014 Formula 1 Russia Grand Prix has finished, one of Russia’s best loved bands, Iowa, will perform for the masses celebrating the end of Russia’s first ever F1 Grand Prix race. The band, whose track “Smile” was the 2nd most popular Russian song on iTunes in the first half of 2014, will help fans see out the 2014 Formula 1 Russia Grand Prix in style.
Finally, seven-time winner of the MUZ-TV award for Best Rock Band Performance and a winner at the MTV Europe Music Awards in the ‘Best Russian Band’ nomination, Zveri, will close the race weekend’s entertainment program.
