Jordan Grand Prix have not done a lot in the way of beating Ferrari in the past but that hasn't stopped team principal Eddie Jordan suggesting that Sauber will never triumph over the Scuderia. However, the Irishman is not suggesting Sauber are not worthy, merely that while the Swiss team run Ferrari engines their supplier will not allow them to be superior.

Peter Sauber's oufit uses year-old Ferrari engines rebadged as Petronas and Jordan thinks that as long as they continue to use them they will never win a race -- unless both Ferrari cars are out of action. "If I was Peter Sauber I would have real difficulty going to a race that I knew I couldn't, or can't, win." Jordan said. "I'm not sure I could race under those rules. They might deny this, but there's no way a Sauber car is going to finish ahead of a Ferrari car. It's quite clear that my team can finish in front of BAR and they can finish in front of me. Honda do not put any constraints on it, they just want the best finishes they can get."

Ferrari are not the only ones who supply engines to two teams; Jaguar are also supplying Arrows with Cosworth units this year and of course Honda supply to Jordan and BAR. Eddie Jordan, however, says it's a different story with Honda as they are an outsider who supply to two teams rather than one team supplying another. On the subject of Honda engines, which his team failed to manage a podium with last season, Jordan wants more power: "We're desperate to get more horsepower out of it. Honda engineers have work to do and we have work to do."
