A 400km bike ride through the African wilderness may sound more like a punishment than a mini break, but always the adventure-seeker, that is what Eddie Jordan did with his weekend, when he went on a Charity Cycle ride organised by CLIC (Cancer and Leukaemia in Childhood), a charity of which he is a patron.

Eddie, together with his wife and a few friends from the charity, began the 'Kenya Cycle Challenge' on 11th November and ended on 16th November. A gruelling 404km was cycled over the five days, starting in Nyeri, passing through villages and across savannah plains, and through a tropical rain forest to Kakamega. The cycle came to an end at Kisumu where everyone celebrated with a well-deserved dinner.

"It was fun but very tough" said Eddie when he got home, "and I won't tell you how sore I am and where!"

The funds raised from the event will enable CLIC to continue providing support for the families of children who are terminally ill with leukaemia or cancer.

This was not Eddie's first cycle feat, as he took part in a similar charity cycle challenge in Spain last year and successfully completed the full 400km distance.
