Following the Belgian Grand Prix, DHL Jordan Honda completed a test in Monza, with Takuma Sato finishing 70 laps on 4 September and Giancarlo Fisichella adding 53 laps of test work the following day. The team carried out work on brake materials and control systems, but the focus was on aerodynamics balance and specification in preparation for the Italian Grand Prix.

Gary Anderson said, "The first day was disrupted by poor weather and that work will only be useful if it rains during the race weekend. We had a reasonable afternoon and Takuma did a good job of learning the circuit with the required low downforce set-up, and he's now quite comfortable to start free practice.

"Unfortunately we had an engine failure very early on the second day with Giancarlo and we lost most of the morning. The afternoon was more productive and we have something satisfactory with which to start practice. We concentrated on aerodynamic balance and making the car suitable to go over kerbs at the chicanes. We've done our homework and just need to do our best at the race."
