At today's Jordan launch in Brussels drivers Giancarlo Fisichella and Takuma Sato spoke of their hopes for the season. Fisichella returns to Jordan after driving for them in 1997, saying: "When I went to the team in England for the seat fitting last September I felt the same atmosphere as I knew lots of the mechanics who were still here from 1997. It's nice to be back, my first day in the car felt like being back at home."

The Italian is optimistic about the new EJ12 and the upcoming season, believing the engine is improved this year. "The new engine is a good step for us, it feels much better than the old one and I feel very confident," he remarked.

New rookie Takuma Sato, who won the British F3 title last year, knows it will not be an easy debut season for him, but he is looking forward to it. "It was a very special year for me in 2001 and it gave me great confidence about doing well in Formula One," He said. "I know it will be very tough, but we have put in a lot of hard work in testing since January. I am very relaxed about the first race and very excited. It will be amazing."

The best performance by a Japanese driver in Formula One was a third back in 1990 by Aguri Suzuki.
