Valencia: Day 1

De la Rosa conducts general set up work for Jaguar Racing Pedro de la Rosa delivered encouraging signs for the Jaguar Racing team after his first day of testing in Valencia on Wednesday.

The Spaniard finished a respectable seventh on the time sheet out of the fifteen drivers present after completing a total of just 29 laps in the new R3.

Concentrating for the most part on set-up work, De la Rosa set a quickest lap time of 1m14.836s to finish ahead of Jacques Villeneuve, Ralf Schumacher and Olivier Panis.

Strong winds at the Valencia circuit meant that most teams struggled to make any significant progress in terms of car set up but a trouble free start will please the Jaguar Racing squad.

De la Rosa resumes testing duties in Valencia for the next two days with Andre Lotter currently conducting straight line testing at Lurcy Levis in France. Eddie Irvine is scheduled to continue his testing schedule in Valencia next weekend when Jaguar Racing is expected to have a new floor ready for the R3.
