A spokesperson for the FIA, world motorsport's governing body, has said there are no plans to cancel this weekend's Italian Grand Prix in light of the terrorist attacks in America on Tuesday. Discussions took place between the governing body and race organisers and the decision was made to run the race as scheduled.

All of this week’s Uefa European football matches have been postponed as a mark of respect, but a spokesman for the Monza circuit has said there is ‘no reason’ why the race should not be run. However, there remains a possibility that the US GP, which is to be held at Indianapolis on September 30, could be affected and an announcement is expected within the next week or two.
