Some current F1 news for those not able to get stories quickly. My comments are in the braces {}, and they are my personal opinions.

Alledgedly and briefly {

* PACIFIC have withdrawn due to lack of money. Last season we lost the Simtek team early on in the year and with Pacific out we are left with 11 teams for next season. Pacific's best race results were eighth places for Montermini in Germany 1995 and Gachot in Australia 1995.

The 11 teams left are: Williams (Hill, Villeneuve) Ferrari (Schumacher, Irvine) Benetton (Berger, Alesi) McLaren (Hakkinen, Coulthard) Sauber (Frentzen, Blundell?) Ligier (Panis, Suzuki?, Diniz?) Footwork (Morbidelli, Verstappen?) Forti (?, ?) Jordan (Brundle, Barichello ) Minardi (Lamy, ?) Tyrrell (Salo, ?)

There maybe some new teams entered for 1996 when the offical team entry is required. DAMS is one such team.

* Alain Prost will be working for McLaren next season in a test-driver/ advisory role. Prost will help in translating what Mika and David are talking about to the engineers. Prost has also hinted that he may drive races should he need to. Mika Hakkinen is out of hospital and his condition is steadily improving. He still has headaches and a problem with his hearing but is being looked after by Prof Sid Watkins, the F1 quack. Should the Finn not be fit enough to drive in the early races of next season we may see the 4 times World Champion take to the grid yet again.

* Two times GP winner Johnny Herbert is considering a number of IndyCar drives for 1996 having not been able to gain a competitive driver in F1.

* Eddie Irvine tested the V12 and the V10 at the Ferrari test circuit recently and was mightily impressed. He managed a lap in the V12 quicker than Jean or Gehard ever did but not as quick as Larini. Eddie said the V10 was not quite as impressive.

* At recent Autosport awards Schumacher won the best international driver and Hill won the best National driver. There was no fighting between the two of them. Damon Hill was sporting some new stubble which I suspect is designed to give him a meaner image for next season.
