Lewis Hamilton added to the Mercedes monopoly, taking another win in China. Ferrari shows improvements, scores podium!
Lewis Hamilton dominated the field, leading from the green flag to the checkered winning the Chinese GP at Shanghai International Circuit. Team mate Nico Rosberg finished the day second, a position he had to fight hard for after a dismal start.
Fernando Alonso brought Ferrari its first podium of the season, with a convincing performance that saw the Spaniard keep a closer pace with the Mercedes of Hamilton.
Both Williams suffered contact on the first lap. Both continued, however, Felipe Massa’s first stop of the day sent him to the back of the pack. Bottas held onto the top ten, wrapping up the day in 7th.
Team orders were given to Sebastian Vettel early in the contest, asking the German to pull over for his Australian team mate. After asking the team what compound Daniel Ricciardo was running on, Vettel simply said “Tough Luck,” over the radio before defending his position normally.
Ricciardo and Vettel finished 4th and 5th respectively.
