Hamilton and Rosberg collide early at Spa

The rivalry between the Mercedes duo just got that much more heated.

At the start of the Belgian Grand Prix, disaster struck the Mercedes team. After a failed attempt by Sebastian Vettel to take over the lead, the teammates were left to fight it out for the top spot on their own.

Nico Rosberg attempted to pass his teammate, but contact was made as they battled. Rosberg's front wing was damaged but he didn't get the worst of it. Hamilton suddenly went sliding off the track with a flat left rear tire that disintegrated as he limped it around the circuit.

He returned to the pits enraged and stunned, saying " He hit me, he just hit me!" He is currently marred deep in the pack after 20 laps. Rosberg was forced to change the front wing on his first pit stop, giving Red Bull a bit of an advantage and costing him valuable track position.

The championship leader now has some ground to make up if he wishes to win this Grand Prix, but things aren't coming together for him so far. This is certainly not the day that Mercedes had envisioned  for themselves.
