Finnish Formula One motor racing driver Mika Hakkinen has undergone surgery for appendicitis and will miss the Pacfic Grand Prix at Aida this Weekend. His place will be taken by the McLaren test driver Jan Magnussen of Denmark.

Hakkinen was rushed to hospital on saturday and had a succesful operation.

Magnussen, 22, will make his Grand Prix racing debut when he takes part in the event at Aida as team mate to Briton Mark Blundell.
