Benetton puts drivers in training
Benetton Formula have sent their drivers, Fisichella and Wurz, to the Canary Islands for intensive training. They will be overseen by Mike Chapman and Bernard Shrosbree.
Villeneuve and Minogue didn't marry says Pollock
Jacques Villeneuve and Dannii Minogue did not marry in Sydney afterall, according to Barbara Pollock. "We seem to have spent the last few weeks denying reports that Jacques and Dannii were to get married, nothing seemed to work because now we get newspaper reports that they are married. Well, JV and Dannii are here with us and they are not married."
Jaguar starts testing
Jaguar are set to test for the first time today. The new car is due to be tested at Silverstone in private testing. Luciano Burti will shakedown the car prior to testing with other teams at Jerez this weekend.
BMW goes on diet
Following comments made by Ralf Schumacher, BMW are putting their new V10 engine on a drastic diet for the 2000 season. They have commented that a redesign won't be able to be tested before racing, which could make the first few races especially frought for the WilliamsF1 team.
WilliamsF1 in sponsor trouble?
Rumours continue to circulate that WilliamsF1 are having trouble securing sponsorship for the team. The team lost it's Winfield sponsorship when parent company Rothmans merged with BAR owner BAT. BMW have guaranteed funding for the team, but have told them to continue to try and find sponsorship.
Williams have been connected with a deal with Compaq, but no official or unofficial word has come confirming or denying it. A deal with Becks was rumoured some time ago, but has come to nought, and a deal with Petrofina was scuppered when BMW signed a deal with a rival fuel company earlier this year.
Ferrari testing continues
Ferrari are testing components for their new car, with Luca Badoer doing the testing. Rubens Barrichello is recovering from surgery, whilst Michael Schumacher has said he won't test until the new car is ready.
