Widely regarded as one of the most under-rated drivers in Formula One, Fisichella was voted the 'Driver's driver' at the annual F1 awards by the test and race drivers of 2002.

Ferrari recently signed ex-Sauber man Felipe Massa as test driver to replace Luciano Burti and many think the young Brazilian is being groomed for a future race seat. Fisichella is not convinced and is hoping for his own chance.

"They have taken him as a test driver," he said of Massa, according to Gazzetta dello Sport. "We will see whether he stays as a driver. There is still hope. I work to race for Ferrari because they are the best team, they have a great past and the fastest car."

Fisichella struggled with Jordan last year but wants to make an impression this year to help him move on to bigger and better things in 2004: "I look at the Jordan that I have got, the economic difficulties of the team," he commented. "I will try to stand out with them. But the objective is to aim for a big team in 2004."

The Italian predicts that Ferrari will take the Championship again this year: "Ferrari will have an easy time again. Williams and McLaren have too much to do to overtake it."
