FIA summons Manor after missing qualifying

The Manor Formula One team has been summoned by the FIA to explain why it did not take part in qualifying for the Australian Grand Prix.

Manor has traveled to Melbourne for the season opener, but its cars did not take to the track at any point during the weekend, the team saying it was working on updating the software needed to get the cars running.

Team boss Graham Lowdon said on Friday Manor was pushing hard to run in the second race in Malaysia.

But the FIA has requested a meeting with Manor representatives to explain their absence from qualifying.

"The Stewards request that you provide a written statement explaining why the team did not participate in Qualifying for the 2015 Australian Grand Prix after receiving a letter from the FIA on the 20th of February," an FIA statement said.

A team representative was requested to meet with the stewards at 8pm local time.
