Fourth day of testing this week for Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro at the Mugello circuit. Michael Schumacher was still at the wheel today, working on a set-up and tyre development programme. The German driver completed a total of 82 laps, of which 14 were on the short version of the track. His best time on the day was 1:21.677.

"We have done a lot of work over the past few days," said Schumacher at the end of the day. "Today, especially we tested various types of tyre. Am I surprised by yesterday record lap time? Yes and no, because the car has evolved a great deal since the last time we were here."

Sauber-Petronas were also testing today: Felipe Massa did 93 laps with a best time of 1:24.514.

Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro continues testing here tomorrow, with Luca Badoer taking over driving duties.
