First day of testing for Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro in preparation for the Spanish Grand Prix. Today, Luciano Burti was at the wheel of an F2001 at Monza. The Brazilian driver's programme centred on tyre testing. The session was briefly interrupted in the afternoon when a problem was spotted with the track surface at the first chicane after the straight, which was solved by making a temporary change to the track layout. A total of 47 laps was completed, the quickest being a 1'27"449, a time set when the track was still damp.

Testing continues at Monza tomorrow, once again with Luciano Burti, while at the same time, Luca Badoer will be running an F2002 at Mugello.

Circuit: Autodromo di Monza, 5.793 km
Driver: Luciano Burti, F2001 chassis no. 215
Weather: air temperature 11/12C, track temperature 17/24C, cloudy.
