First day of testing this week for Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro. Luca Badoer was in action today in Fiorano. The programme centred on electronics in preparation for the United States Grand Prix and some components for the 2002 season. Ferrari's official test driver had two F2001 at his disposal. Testing began at 10.45 and ended at 18.00 and a total of 42 laps were covered, six of them on the short course. Badoer also did nine practice starts. The best time of the day was a 59.988s.

"Today we worked on two fronts," said Badoer after testing. "On one car, I concentrated on electronics development for the final part of the season, while with the other, I started work on developing a few components which could be used next season."

Badoer continues driving at Fiorano tomorrow.
