Esteban Tuero has signed up for Argentina's unique TC2000 series, with 2 litre engines, front wheel drive tin-tops with wings and splitters. The series is unlike any other series and is very competitive. Esteban still refuses to say why he left F1. "You can ask me 60 times and I won't tell you" he is quoted as saying.
Sauber and Jordan happy with cars
After testing this week, Jordan and Sauber have said that they are happy that progress has been made with their new cars. For Sauber, Pedro Diniz has said that he is amazed at the power of the engine.
Monaco loses late lunch
Monaco is to lose its traditional late start this season. The race is unique in F1 having a start later than 2pm local time. This was traditionally to allow the Royal family to have an unhurried lunch.
Argentina puts in request for GP
Just a few days after Argentina was called off, there is a call for an F1 race in Argentina. This time the request has come from the track Oscar Cabalen.
Luca pleads for no more races
Luca di Montezemolo has made a request for the calendar not to expand beyond the current 17 races. This adds weight to Bernie Ecclestones argument against further races.
Schuey writes off BARs chances
Michael Schumacher has gone on record saying that he doesn't think BAR have a chance of running consistantly at the front of the field this season. "They will take too long to get the car together, I would be more than surprised if they got around our cars."
Todt denies his job is on the line
Jean Todt has gone on the defensive over suggestions that Ferrari will face a major shakeup if it doesn't win this season. He is quoted as saying "Do we take out a gun and shoot ourselves if we don't do it? If you can explain why you lose, it's okay. If you can't explain or improve the problem, then you have to ask questions. But we know exactly where we are and why we are there. Ferrari did not win the championship for 20 years because it made too many changes. Stability is a good thing."
Teams agree on tyre testing
The FIA and the teams have agreed on the dates for the 25 days of testing this season. Also, Bridgestone have agreed that when Ferrari or McLaren have developed a new tyre, all teams will have access to it at least 45 days before it races.
