FIA rules in Diniz favour

The FIA Contracts Recognition Board has ruled in Pedro Diniz's favour, in a case brought by TWR. TWR was claiming that it had a contract with Diniz. The FIA has decided that the terms of the contract did give Diniz the option to leave due to the performance of the team.

Minardi confirms Badoer

Takagi moves into frame at Minardi

Tora Takagi has now been added to the list of potential drivers for the small Faenza based team. There appears to be four drivers vying for the remaining drive - Cesare Fiorio, sporting director, has put the chances of Badoer, Nakano and Fontana at 40%, 20% and 10% respectively. That leaves 30% for some other as yet unnamed driver.

Takagi is also continuing to be linked to Arrows, replacing Mika Salo, with his stlg3m budget having some sway. Arrows are expected to name their team later this week.

Malaysia not under threat

Max Mosley has stated that the Malaysian Grand Prix will go ahead, and isn't about to be dropped. 'My understanding is it is 100%, and everybody who has been to the facility there is very impressed with it' said Max Mosley. It is also said that the organisers have paid 2 years fees for the race.

16 races for F1 this year

Max Mosley has said that the calendar is to stay at 16 races this season. The calendar lost the Chinese Grand Prix, and its replacement the Argentine Grand Prix, and there are no more events waiting in the wings.

Old car for McLaren at first race?

McLaren have admitted that they may run the old MP4-13 at the first race. Adrian Newey said it was an "option we have always bourne in the back of our minds". Norbert Haug of Mercedes has denied that they will do so.

Gene quick in testing

Marc Gene has set fast times in testing at Barcelona. The team is suspected of running the car underweight or very low on fuel.
