McLaren to buy F1

Speculation continues to mount that the Tag-McLaren group is preparing to buy a significant stake in FOA when Bernie Ecclestone sells the company. Mansour Ojjeh and Ron Dennis are selling off non-core companies presently to build up the reserves needed. Last week they sold TAG Heuer to LVMH - the French luxury goods conglomarate. The post is to be further increased when Mercedes complete their purchase of 40% of McLaren.

Prost sells stake in team

According to press reports, Alain Prost has sold a 20% stake in his team to "one of the leading companies in Europe". It is not clear who this company is. A spokesman for the team has said that "we know something is in the offing, but we don't know if anything is going to be announced."

Uncle Tom promises next year

Tom Walkinshaw has made his excuses for the Arrows teams poor performance this year "It will be an all-new car next year. The only thing that keeps me going is that the reason we are so bad is because we are concentrating on next year's car, and have been since May. I'm determined we're not going to have a compromise car. It will be the best we can do. This thing needs picking up by the scruff of the neck and having the living daylights shaken out of it, and that's what's going to happen".
