David Coulthard is the latest name to join the line up for the 2004 Race of Champions on the 4th of December at the Stade de France. The McLaren driver will make his debut in the event as teammate to former World Rally Champion (WRC) Colin McRae for Autosport Team GB.

"Having watched the event with interest for many years, I am very much looking forward to competing against the entry of World class contenders," said Coulthard. All the drivers will be racing to raise money for ICM, the Paris-based Institute for Brain and Spinal cord Disorders.

Michael Schumacher will also compete and McRae is hoping he and Coulthard can do well and that he can beat the seven-time F1 champion. "DC is great driver, so I am hoping we will be up there," he said. "Personally I am hoping to be one of the few drivers to beat Michael this year and certainly the first from outside F1!"

Alongside Schumacher in the German team will be WRC driver Armin Schwarz. Competing for France is current WRC leader S?bastien Loeb and newly crowned German Touring Car (DTM) champion Mattias Ekstr?m will line up for Sweden.

NASCAR stars Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon are also confirmed to compete and Ekstr?m is hoping compatriot and former Indy 500 champion Kenny Brack will join him. More drivers are expected to commit to the 17th Race Of Champions in the near future.
