At the meeting of the World Motor Sports Council in Paris yesterday a change to the 2003 Formula One calendar was revealed. The provisional calendar had not included the three week summer break but after team bosses protested, the break has been re-instated between the German and Hungarian Grands Prix in August.

The Belgian Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps is provisional until the tobacco advertising problem is resolved. New anti-tobacco legislation comes into force in Belgium at the beginning of August 2003 and it remains to be seen if teams will run without tobacco sponsorship or if some kind of deal can be arranged.
