Minardi Team F1 announced that its sporting director for 1999 will be the experienced and professional Cesare Fiorio, who today finalised an agreement with Gabriele Rumi and Gian Carlo Minardi.

Fiorio, who will wear the Team's uniform from January '99, arrives at Minardi after many successful seasons in the prototype racing and rallies - in the Seventies and Eighties -- and after ten years in Formula 1.

"It is very important for our team to be able to rely on the experience of such a worthy man as Fiorio and I am very happy that Cesare accepted our challenge," said Rumi. "We are finally collecting the credibility we deserve."

Fiorio said, "I am deeply motivated by this challenge, joining a team in significant phase of reorganisation but at the same time, a team that represents the tradition of Formula 1 in Italy. It also gives me considerable pleasure coming home to work with an Italian team, after five years abroad."
