Caterham Renault Formula One team uncovered their newest contender at the Jerez circuit this morning prior to the first preseason test days.
The Caterham team powered by Renault is ready for action with the same changes that their rivals have made due to the restriction of the rules and the new challenge that will come in 2014. Focusing on "subtle" changes to this year's CT02, the main attractions were the new livery and the 'step' nose. Of course there were changes made but the big draw was the vibrant green with yellow which has been praised by the fans as “beautiful”.
About the team’s two drivers, Abiteboul said, "Driving the cars this year are Charles Pic and Giedo van der Garde, two drivers who give us a good mix of youth and experience inside and outside Formula One. Charles and Giedo are both young and dynamic and we expect that their enthusiasm for the sport and the team will be fuelling our growth.”
Yet at the same time, the ‘step’ nose remains with without the ‘vanity panel’ which has been utilized by most of the Formula One teams. In fact per the first reaction of those who saw the first photos of the car, they were not happy to see the ‘step nose’ to the point that the Caterham team might win the ugliest nose contest this year. Yet it appears from fans reactions, the new color a thumbs-up.
Caterham Group Co-chairman Tony Fernandes said, “We are getting good results from the wind tunnel which we have never had before. We continue to move forward in the direction where we can get the results we have hoped for.”
