DHL Jordan Honda is for the most part satisfied with progress made today, despite the frustration caused by a few unfortunate problems which prevented Takuma Sato from accomplishing his set- up programme. Giancarlo Fisichella was third quickest at the end of this morning's interim session, however the balance was not so good on new tyres, needing further work on the car's set-up.
"It's been a good day, particularly the first session when we did a good job with the set-up and I was very competitive. When we changed to new tyres, however, it was completely different, and suddenly I experienced a lot of understeer, which means we will need to start again with the set- up tomorrow. Looking at `brand new' tyre performance it seems the Michelins are better, so we have a lot to do for qualifying. "
"It was difficult day for me. I had a late start due to trouble with our initial set-up which took nearly 10 minutes to fix. Then we had problems with the electrical systems which spoilt my first session although we were able to carry out back-to-back brake tests for the race, which gave us some positive data. The afternoon was okay until we put on a new set of tyres, which created more set- up work and unfortunately we have not yet got the perfect balance. Finally, ten minutes before the end of the session, my exhaust pipe broke and put a stop to any more timed laps."
GARY ANDERSON, DIRECTOR OF RACE AND TEST ENGINEERING
"We're quite pleased with what we've done today, continuing our efforts to make the car better for the race. Front tyre graining is proving to be a bit of a problem, just for one lap, but with a little bit more work on the car we'll be okay. Takuma lost some time at the end with a broken exhaust pipe so he lost his final timed runs. Generally everything seems alright."
The T car is set up for Giancarlo Fisichella for tomorrow's qualifying.
