Renault test driver Franck Montagny worked on tyre compounds and constructions and was seventh fastest in the R23 chassis. Toyota was the fifth team on track, testers Ricardo Zonta and Ryan Briscoe eighth and ninth.

At Fiorano Ferrari tester Luca Bodoer worked on tyres in the F2003-GA, his best time a 57.398 of 132 laps. Michael Schumacher took over at Mugello, trying out new components in the F2004, and completed 65 laps with a best time of 1:20.106.
