After Renault announced the driver line up of Jarno Trulli and Fernando Alonso for next year, current driver Jenson Button comments on his time with the team.

Q: When did you learn that Fernando would partner Jarno in the drivers line-up next year?

A: I can tell you exactly. It was the day after the British Grand Prix at Silverstone. That was when I realised I wasn't going to be here next season.

Q: Were you surprised at the decision?

A: Yes, slightly, because this season has been good and the team has done a terrific job. I think Jarno and I have worked well as team-mates. So, yes, I did have a feeling of slight shock at the news.

Q: What are you plans for the future?

A: I cannot say exactly, but I think I am in good shape for next year. I am looking forward to the opportunity. Obviously, at this time, I am not able to say any more, certainly not for a few days. But I know what I am doing and where I am going.

Q: Looking back, you have had two seasons with Renault. Have you enjoyed you time with them over all and has it been a good learning experience?

A: Yes, I have had a good time even though last year was the most difficult of my whole career. But, at the same time, it was very difficult also for a lot of the people in the team. We have made a lot of progress and we seem to be the fourth best team on the grid at the moment. That is a very positive step forward from last season.

Q: Do you feel that it was a good career move to be with Renault?

A: Yes, I think so. Last year was very tough, but I learned a lot and I would not change anything for the world. I learned so much last season, both technically and mentally. I developed as a person and as a driver. So, yes, it has been a good career step for me.

Q: Now, you have unfinished business this year with another seven races remaining in the 2002 World Championship. How do you feel about the rest of the year?

A: Absolutely the same as normal. I am going to try and get as many points as I can for the team and, of course, for myself. The team has been very supportive of me in the last year and a half, and I will always remember the great time I have had with Renault.
