Rubens Barrichello of Brawn GP takes a five-place grid penalty to the start of the second race of the Formula One season Sunday, the Malaysian Grand Prix. His BGP001 needed a new gearbox after Friday practice sessions. Rules changes for 2009 include that gearboxes last four races.

Barrichello covered 22 laps in first practice and 37 in second with a best time of 1 minute, 36.161 seconds on the 3.44-mile Sepang International Circuit, good for sixth on timesheets.
