According to reports in the British press BAR boss Craig Pollock is trying to persuade engine supplier Honda to provide the team with more financial backing. He believes that in order for BAR to be competitive they need to find a big backer and their engine supplier would be the ideal choice. Recently Pollock has been one of the voices predicting that a recession will hit Formula One in the near future. With Prost already in receivership and allegations that Arrows are also experiencing financial problems, Pollock is looking to ensure that BAR won't suffer the same fate.

Speaking to Autosport magazine he said:“ The car's surface is not sufficient to fully fund a team. You need to be with the manufacturer who will invest in the team, above supplying engines. To compete with Jaguar, Renault, and Toyota, there is no independent team that can do that.”
