British American Racing and Honda have had their first test at Silverstone together. The car did 34 troublefree laps of the circuit. Jacques Villeneuve said "It controlled vibrations well and it was easier to drive than I expected".

Takefumi Hosaka of Honda, meanwhile, is quoted as saying "As this was the first time for the engine to be mounted in the chassis, our primary aim was to confirm that all systems are operational"

"We also wanted to use this opportunity to evaluate such areas as the teamwork of BAR Honda as well as logistics. I am much satisfied with the test which was more successful than I expected. This test represented an important first step toward reaching our ultimate goal."

In October, Craig Pollock said "we must score a Grand Prix victory in the first year of the partnership and the aim is to win the championship within three years".
