Asiatech are on the lookout for a major manufacturer to be a partner in its aim to build a Formula One car. Currently supplying engines to Minardi, Asiatech took over Peugeot engines and supplied to Arrows in 2000 but now it wants to develop a chassis and need a manufacturer to help realise its plans.

"Asiatech has been in Formula 1 for two years now and feels the time is right to try and fulfill our dream of creating our own F1 car and we would very much like the support from a car manufacturer to do just that," said financial director John Gano.

"As we all know the future of F1 is in their (the manufacturers) hands. That's why we already had some talks with some of them, but we don't want others to feel left out. This is really the ideal moment to come and talk to us about a partnership."

Gano realises finding a partner won't be easy as most of the big names, such as BMW, Mercedes and Renault already have their own interests in F1: "It certainly won't be easy to find a big partner," he remarked. "Most of the major manufacturers already have a partner and therefore have no interest in what we are offering."
