Innovative and original: Red Bull a company with wi-ings! The company was founded in 1984 by Dietrich Mateschitz and is based in Fuschl am See, Austria. Mateschitz's vision was to market a beverage, then still unknown on the European market, which he had got to know whilst on his travels through Asia as an energiser with vitalising effect on mind and body. Convinced of the potential of this beverage known in Asia as an Energy Drink, Mateschitz had the product thoroughly tested scientifically and medically. Once its effectiveness and harmlessness had been confirmed, he adapted the drink to European tastes and launched it in Austria under the name Red Bull.

When Bridgestone Motorsport entered Formula One in 1997, one of the first teams to sign up with the new tyre supplier was Arrows. As the Japanese company moves into its sixth season in F1, Arrows is the only one of the five teams that started the first race of 1997 on Bridgestone tyres to still be with the supplier. Hiroshi Yasukawa, director of Bridgestone Motorsport, said“ Bridgestone and Arrows go back a long way. Indeed the team has been one of our most loyal and supportive friends in Formula 1 and it is always a pleasure to work with everyone there. It is time that Arrows enjoyed the success it deserves and Bridgestone is looking forward to playing its part in helping the team fulfill its ambitions. 2002 is the start of a new era, with a new engine supplier, so we hope a team effort will bring more success to Leafield this season.”
