Renault team principal Flavio Briatore has confirmed that tester Fernando Alonso will be driving in Formula One next year. Briatore, who manages Alonso, said the Spaniard was the subject of interest for a few teams and would be in a drive with one of them, if not at Renault.

"Fernando will have no problem. Four or five teams are interested in him," Briatore commented. "He will be in Formula One next year. We cannot block a driver like him. If he doesn't get a place at Renault, he will definitely find a place at another team."

It is speculated that Alonso is most likely to replace Jenson Button at Renault, who has also confirmed he has been in talks with other teams. Alonso tested for Jaguar not long ago -- as did another Briatore prot?g?, Mark Webber.

Although rumour has it that Button is no longer interested in Jaguar -- he was spotted visiting the team factory in recent months -- due to the less than brilliant performance of the revised R3 at the British Grand Prix, Briatore has hopes for Webber.

"For me Mark has been the driver of the year," he said. "He has exceeded my expectations in the Minardi and not only that, I think he is probably fitter than even Michael Schumacher. Jaguar are certainly an opportunity for him and I hope to be able to announce something soon."
