Renault F1 Team driver Fernando Alonso, who suffered a frightening accident on lap 54 of the race, is uninjured, if shocked by the incident.

Fernando Alonso is uninjured. The Spanish driver was evacuated to the circuit medical centre after his dramatic accident on lap 54 of the Brazilian Grand Prix. Travelling at high speed, Fernando was unable to avoid the wheel assembly of Mark Webber's Jaguar lying in the middle of the circuit after the Australian driver's accident. After an extremely violent impact, the R23 spun to a halt on the other side of the circuit from the impact.

A shaken Fernando needed a little time to recover. Although he was limping, he was able to get out of the car unaided. As a precautionary measure, doctors decided to immobilise him and examine his condition. Apart from a painful knee, Fernando is uninjured.
