MORTARA TAKES FIFTH WIN OF THE YEAR AT ZANDVOORT

ZANDVOORT (NED) 21 AUGUST 2010: Edoardo Mortara won the Formula 3 Euro Series race at Zandvoort today from pole position.

The Italian was able to maintain track advantage through Turn 1 and accelerated away from second-placed Valtteri Bottas, before managing the race to preserve his tyres and take ten points. It means his lead in the championship has increased to 23 points, ahead of Signature team-mate Marco Whittmann.

Race position: 1 / Grid position: 1 / Fastest lap: 1:32.153, lap 3 / Dry and breezy, 22o. ambient and 25.3o. track temperature / Drivers' championship standing: = 1st, 77 points

EDOARDO MORTARA: "Today might have looked like an easy win, but it's never easy. As always, I pushed really hard in the opening five laps and then managed the gap in order to keep the tyres in good condition. It doesn't matter if you win by ten seconds or two tenths - if you drive off into the distance and then stack it because you're pushing too hard, you look really stupid!

"My start was much better than at the Nurburgring, although Valtteri's start was even better. I knew exactly where he was going to place his car as we went into Turn 1, though, so I had it completely under control.

"The team did a great job to get pole yesterday, so today was pretty straight forward. It feels good to win here after we had so many difficulties here at the Masters of F3 event earlier this year."
