VALENCIA (ESP) 22 May 2010: Edoardo Mortara won the fifth round of the 2010 F3 Euroseries today in Valencia, Spain, from pole position.

The Italian, who also won the feature race at Le Castellet last month, held his lead into the first corner and never looked back. He has extended his lead in the championship to 12 points.

Five races into this season, the Signature driver is yet to finish off the podium. Tomorrow he will start Race 2 from eighth position, due to the reverse grid format.

2010 F3 Euroseries championship standings: 1. Edoardo Mortara (Signature) - 38 2. Marco Whittmann (Signature) - 26 3. Roberto Mehri (Mucke Motorsport) - 23

EDOARDO MORTARA: "Winning a race is never easy, but today was really perfect. The Circuit Ricardo Tormo is very narrow and twisty - it's really difficult to overtake here - so I knew my start would be critical. Once I got through Turn One in front, I could breath a sigh of relief and control the race from there.

"Victory today comes thanks to my pole position yesterday - the first of my F3 Euroseries career. So, a fantastic job so far, I'm so pleased with this result and a huge thank you to Signature and Volkswagen for another brilliant performance.

"Tomorrow is going to be really tough. Like I said, passing here is extremely difficult, but let's see what happens. It feels terrific to extend my championship lead, but right now I'm just taking it one race at a time."
