MORTARA TAKES POLE POSITION IN VALENCIA

VALENCIA (ESP) 21 May 2010: Formula 3 Euroseries championship leader Edoardo Mortara was fastest in today's qualifying session for tomorrow's feature race in Valencia, Spain.

The third round of the season, Valencia marks Mortara's first pole position of the year - which is ironic as he says the Circuit Riccardo Tormo is not really to his liking.

The Signature driver shares the front row with Spaniard Daniel Juncadella, while team mate Marco Whittmann, who is currently the closest driver to Edo in the points standings, lines up fifth.

GRID POSITION: 1 FASTEST TIME: 1:28.583

EDOARDO MORTARA: "Today I feel like I've got a monkey off my back, because I keep being quickest in practice only to struggle in qualifying. Although I've always been confident on race day and managed to muscle my way through, it has made my life much harder. So to be on pole is a great feeling, as the road is clear for victory tomorrow. Not only that, I have always said this is my least favourite track of the year. I was determined to score maximum at Paul Ricard and Hockenheim because I thought I might drop points here. But, as it turns out, I've got a good handle on it and we're expecting a good result tomorrow."
