Tough weekend for Raffaele Marciello at Zandvoort

Ferrari Driver Academy driver had a black weekend where he could gather only 12 points with the fifth place in Race 1.

A bitter weekend to forget quickly the one just faced by Raffaele Marciello in Zandvoort for the eighth seasonal round of FIA Formula 3 European Championship. He arrived in Holland charged and determined thanks to the exceptional performance in Nurburgring, unfortunately the Ferrari Driver Academy driver had a black weekend where he could gather only 12 points with the fifth place in Race 1.

The free practice sessions of the eve let forecast nothing good as Lello was anchored between the fifth and the eleventh position. A track always tough to him, a not very good set up, not enough grip and consequently a compromised pace didn’t let him go beyond the fifth position in both Qualifying sessions. The same story in Race 1 with the Prema Powerteam’s bearer that had to settle with fighting in the area close to the podium confirming the starting position and crossing the finish line in fifth position.

Even more complicated the other two races: in Race 2 he was blocked at the start on the grid and was obliged to recover from the 24th position arriving under the checkered flag in sixteenth position. In Race 3 he gave up after going out of track while he tried to lower the gap with the fourth. A weekend to be forgotten, then, and now all the attention is towards the home round in Vallelunga, where he will be called to the revenge.

Raffaele Marciello: “There isn’t much to say, we were slow, the performance missed and we couldn’t find the necessary need to go fast and be competitive. We couldn’t understand why since qualifying we couldn’t run as we wanted and we couldn’t locate the problem. The championship will be decided in Hockenheim, now we have to work a lot and hardly for Vallelunga’s round, even because the track has similar peculiarities as Zandvoort… We have to enhance the car, we have no intention to lose this championship because we deservedly lead since the first race”.

Raffaele is always the leader of the overall ranking with 384,5 points, ten victories in eight rounds.
