The Berlin Team kfzteile24 Mücke Motorsport fills fourth cockpit for the FIA Formula 3 European Championship with the US-American Michael Lewis – Peter Mücke: "Michael is able to get podium placings".
Berlin (rol/ot) The German Team kfzteile24 Mücke Motorsport from Berlin filled the last seat of their four cockpits of the Dallara-Mercedes race cars for the FIA Formula 3 European Championship.
Already at the second season event coming weekend (12th to 14th of April) in Silverstone (England) with the runs three to six, the US-American Michael James Lewis will be behind the wheel for the racing stable from the German capital city.
"We are happy to have Michael aboard now. He has got the potential to fight about podium placings and win races", team principal Peter Mücke said, who now has a promising replacement for Pascal Wehrlein, who switched to the DTM (Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters) as the youngest DTM driver for the Mercedes-Team Mücke Motorsport.
The driver from Worndorf was on the podium three times (first, second and third position) at his farewell performance at the Formula 3, the European Championship season opening in Monza (Italy). "I am sure Michael can accomplish similar positions as well, not only because he already took part at the Formula 3 Euro Series and the European Championship last year", Peter Mücke said.
Michael Lewis, born on the 24th of December 1990 in Laguna Beach (California, USA), has been overall eighth of the Formula 3 Euro Series last year and was on the podium seven times (one time as winner). "It is a great honour to be with kfzteile24 Mücke Motorsport", Lewis said.
"There is a history of success that Peter Mücke and his team have built, so it gives me great confidence to know I am driving for a very established team. My goal is to go out and win races. With the strong support of kfzteile24 Mücke Motorsport, this goal can be achieved", the 22 year old student of the California State University in Fullerton explained, who also has a place of residence in Baveno (Italy).
At the Italian Formula 3 Championship, the US-American, who started his motor sports career in 2003 with karting, has been the Rookie champion in 2011 and vice champion in Italy. And during the two years before he was behind the wheel at the Formula BMW (America and Europe) as well and has been quite successful.
"It is exciting to finally get back in the car for the second round at Silverstone and start scoring some points. I am ready to give all of my effort for the next event, and I would like to thank kfzteile24 Mücke Motorsport and Mercedes-Benz for this opportunity", Michael Lewis said.
