Janis to start from 7th row

Norisring today saw an incredibly thrilling and competitive qualifying for the F3 Euro Series race and Erik Janis ended in the seventh row on tomorrow's grid. The young Czech driver of the Mucke Motorsport team was holding a top ten position for majority of the 30 minutes qualifying but he finished 14th. No less than 28 drivers out of 29 were within one second.

The Mercedes Benz junior driver made his Norisring debut today. It started with a free practice and Erik finished 12th with best time 49.838. He managed to do 35 laps in the qualifying and improved to 49.211:

Erik Janis: "It was quite a busy day. I was feeling very well for majority of the time and everything went really well. Unfortunately, I lost a good position right at the end of the qualifying. There was a red flag after my team-mate Veitoris hit the wall and lost two wheels. Before and even after I was around fifth or sixth place and when the session came to the end my mechanics suddenly showed P18 on the pit board. I did not expect anything like this. I improved a bit afterwards but it was not enough to get back to the top 10. I have to go carefully through my data with the engineer. Perhaps, I still have a bit of problem to put all sectors together. I am here for the first time and quickly found fondness for it. The braking points are extremely important here. I have only one aim for tomorrow -- to get to the top 10."
