Berlin/Nürnberg (rol/ot) The German Team kfzteile24 Mücke Motorsport from Berlin started into the second season half of the FIA Formula 3 European Championship with a win and two second positions by Felix Rosenqvist this weekend (12th to 14th of July) on the Norisring. The Swede gathered the most points out of all drivers (61 points) on the 2.3 km long city course in Nürnberg at the season runs 16 to 18.

He is now only 24.5 points behind the points leader on second position in the rankings. The front runner Raffaele Marciello (Italy), won the race on Saturday morning (13th of July). The afternoon race was won by the British Alex Lynn (all Dallara Mercedes). Rosenqvist won on Sunday (14th of July) already for the sixth time in this year’s FIA Formula 3 European Championship for the racing stable from the German capital city – and he scored the course lap record. Besides the wins he finished three times second and two times third altogether.

The Israeli Roy Nissany also gathered points for the Mücke team on position eight on Saturday (Sunday 15th and drop out) as well as his US-American team colleague Michael Lewis, who finished tenth in the races 16 and 17 and dropped out on Sunday right after the start of the race. The Saturday race ended early for the Australian Mitchell Gilbert (all Dallara Mercedes), when he was heckled by two of his combatants in the sixth out of 42 laps and his car was damaged. He finished on position 22 and 17 in the next two races after that.

Felix Rosenqvist, who won the "RTL GP Masters of Formula 3" in Zandvoort (Netherlands) one week ago (7th of July) for the second time already, started from pole position on Saturday, but was overtaken by Marciello at the beginning. The next race, the Swede defended his second position until he passed the finish line, before he overtook the Italian in lap 14 to take the lead in the Sunday race. "I couldn’t expect more in Nürnberg, considering the fact that the Norisring is not my favourite track", Rosenqvist said. "And my team did everything and gave me a fantastic car again. That was a racing weekend I will never forget."

Team principal Peter Mücke was happy as well: "All in all it has been a very successful weekend for us. Felix did a great job and has not been misled by anything", he said. "And he was able to decrease the gap to the championship leader. Our other drivers also did a good job in these turbulent races.

Roy and Michael reached top ten placings, but were unlucky as well just like Mitchell with crashes through no fault of their own." The seventh season event of the Formula 3 European Championship with the races 19 to 21 is scheduled from 16th to 18th of August on the Nürburgring.
