Friday is the big day. Michael Klein is taking a giant leap, not into a shark-infested pond, but from the Formula 3 Cup into the Formula 3 Euro Series. New race series, new team, new car - everything is set for the Hockenheimring in Baden-Wurttemberg.

Michael Klein talking about:

the objectives for 2008: "I want to finish in the Top Ten, maybe even the Top Eight. I'm excited about Hockenheim, especially as in the run-up to the new season, I was out of action through illness. I was unable to take part in any practice sessions and missed one of the tests. Even now, I'm not quite 100% fit. By Mugello, though, I'm expecting to be back to normal. We'll just have to wait and see what we can manage in Hockenheim - I'll definitely be giving it all I've got, even if I don't feel as physically strong as usual."

the leap from the F3 Cup into the F3 Euro Series: "It's true, this is a big change. In the Euro Series, every tiny detail counts as you can see from the time lists: here, two or three tenths of a second can make a difference of several places. That wasn't the case in the Cup where all you had to do was drive in the Trophy classification and immediately be out in the lead."

the F3 Euro Series as a springboard: "If you do well in the Euro Series, then you have a good chance of making it to the top. In any case, the level of competition is very intense and there are plenty of fast drivers trying to climb up the rankings. If you can hold your own amongst these people, you can make real progress in your career."

the measure of success: "I've already competed against Christian Vietoris in the Cup, though he was driving a more up-to-date model than me. Now the cars we're driving are about equal so let's see who ends up ahead."

Michael Klein: "I'm a very ambitious racing driver. There are lots of things I want to achieve in my career and I aim to get to the top. I'm a perfectionist in anything I do. I'll already be giving it my best shot this season, and next year, I plan to be challenging for the title."
