Spengler To Race in Zandvoort

Montreal, Canada, September 1, 2004 -- The road circuit of Zandvoort, Holland will be the scene of rounds 15 and 16 of the Euro Formula 3 Series that features Canadian race car driver Bruno Spengler.

The 21-year old Spengler, a member of the Mercedes-Benz Junior Team and the ambassador of the Casino of Montreal, intends to score more championship points on this 4.307-kilometre long track.

"Zandvoort is an average speed circuit and most corners are taken at about the same speed," Spengler said. "There just one racing line and it is very difficult to pass there. It is crucial to start the race up at the front of the pack to have any hopes of finishing on the podium."

The young Canadian completed two days of testing last week in Brno, Czechoslovakia in preparation for the two races that will be held there after Zandvoort.

"On the first day, my car suffered from a big lack of grip and the Mucke team worked very hard to solve the problem," Spengler explained. "We made good, solid progress because there was a lot to be done on the car. With each lap, my times became more competitive. It rained at one point and I was amongst the fastest runners. It looks promising for the Zandvoort races."
