Twelfth position for Erik Janis in Brands Hatch

Erik Janis ended up twelfth in the first session of the two weekend Formula 3 Euro Series races at British circuit Brands Hatch. The pilot of Mucke Motorsport Team started from the twenty-first position after he had made eleventh time of his group in the split qualifying. Today he was fourth out of rookies, the same place goes for the standings. Tle second race takes place tomorrow, twenty minutes after noon, CET.

Erik Janis: "The start was very good, probably the best ever this year. Right after moving off I overtook two rivals. It was like in a rocket. Then I was lucky enough to avoid the crash in the first turn. I was driving fourteenth for quite a long time, just behind my team colleague Mika Maki and Henkie Waldschmidt. Soon after there was a little surprise - a penalty called drive through - for the best time in a particular section under the yellow flag. Quite a lot of other pilots were punished this way, so I didn't lose anything after my stop in boxes. Overtaking at Brands Hatch is normally very very difficult, almost impossible, so I took the chance when two rivals hesitated and got myself into the twelfth position. I think it was a good race, unfortunately from the back positions. What I miss is a better qualifying."

Peter Mucke, Team Principal: "It is very similar as it's been so far this year. Erik drove very well, but if he does not improve in the qualifying, he will hardly ever get points in all-time rankings. Let's hope we can make better before the season is over."
