Story Highlights

  • Two new Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3 for Nürburgring 24h race
  • Final rehearsal with both cars at this weekends VLN-race
  • Stefan Mücke, Darren Turner and Tomas Enge return to Young Driver AMR
  • Fredy Barth and Oliver Mathai join Young Driver AMR

Two are better then one: Young Driver AMR doubles the chances for the 24-hour race on the gruelling Nürburgring-Nordschleife (17th to 20th May) and enters a pair of new Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3. For the “Nürburgring 24”, Stefan Mücke (GER), Darren Turner (GBR) and Tomas Enge (CZE) return to Young Driver AMR. They are joined by Nürburgring-expert Oliver Mathai (GER). Also the driver line-up for the second Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3 is now complete. Rapid Swiss man and former WTCC-racer Fredy Barth (SUI) joins Ferdinand and Johannes Stuck (AUT), sons of motorsport legend Hans-Joachim Stuck, and Dennis Rostek (GER). Young Driver AMR enters both Aston Martin in this weekend’s third round of the VLN Endurance Championship (28th April) at the Nürburgring-Nordschleife as a final rehearsal for the 24h-race in mid May.

The schedule is tight at this weekend’s final rehearsal for the 24h-race, as Saturday’s race is only four hours short. For the best possible preparation, both Young Driver AMR-Aston Martin will be driven by the same driver squad, that is going to race the two V12-powered Aston Martin in the 24h-race in the „Green Hell“. Young Driver AMR already collected valuable experience in the first test race on the Nordschleife two weeks ago, and used this experience together with Aston Martin Racing for further developments of the new-for-2012 Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3. Main topic for the second test race on the nearly 25 kilometre long track in the Eifel mountains is further development and fine tuning in the best possible way for the 24-hour endurance.

„I’m really happy to welcome back Stefan Mücke, Darren Turner and Tomas Enge in the team. In the last two years, we have been successful together and claimed five victories in the FIA GT1 World Championship and finished in the runner-up spot in the driver’s championship last season. They are teamed up with Oliver Mathai, a true Nordschleife- and Aston Martin-expert“, Young Driver AMR-team principal Hardy Fischer says. „I like also to welcome Fredy Barth to Young Driver AMR, who joins the Stuck-brothers and Dennis Rostek and completes a very serious line-up in our second car. With a strong line-up and an Aston Martin, which showed promising potential in the first test race, we are well prepared for the 24-hour race. We are proud to represent Aston Martin in the 24h-race with features maybe the strongest competition in it’s history, and your goal is to fight for a podium finish.“
