Monza: maiden win for Vita4One Team Italy in the Blancpain Endurance Series
15/04/2012 - The participation in the Blancpain Endurance Series 2012 started in the best possible way for Vita4One Team Italy. The lineup made of Eugenio Amos (IT), Alessandro Bonacini (IT) and Giacomo Petrobelli (IT) obtained in fact an historic win, the first of the team in an international competition, in class Pro-Am at the dubut in Monza's season opener behind the wheel of the number 57 Ferrari 458 Italia GT3.
The race was run in the first thirty-five minutes under safety car regime due to safety reasons motivated by the heavy rain falling on the Italian track and saw Petrobelli producing a solid final stint where the water spray reduced quite a lot the visibility forcing some drivers to made mistakes.
In the middle stint the rain decreased its intensity and Bonacini managed to push hard in such a way to finish the second hour in second position of the class. Pit-stops took Amos closer to the leadership at the beginning of the third stint, a position that was gained a few laps into the stint; the Italian driver led the race solidly until the chequered flag welcomed the first place in the Pro-Am lineups, the absolute sixth.
Matteo Bobbi (Vita4One Team Italy, Team Principal):
"We will keep the memory of this day for a long time: this was our first race in an international series and securing the victory is something special. We did not get it by chance though: Amos, Bonacini and Petrobelli have been perfect and kept a race pace that has always been competitive despite the tricky conditions of the circuit due to the rain, on top of that the pit crew did a great job in both pit-stops. In the last few weeks all the guys trained daily and checked footages to understand where they could improve. Credit for the win today goes also to them".
The Blancpain Endurance Series will be back on track next 2 June in Silverstone (GB).
