Carrera Cup Asia Champion Chris van der Drift will race a Porsche at next month’s Bathurst 12 Hour.
The Kiwi has signed on with the Mobil 1 New Zealand team, and will race a Porsche 997 GT3 Cup in Class B.
It will be van der Drift’s second outing with the squad, after finishing 32nd with them at last year’s 12 Hour.
“In Class B this year there will be some stiff competition for sure,” van der Drift told Motorsport.com.
“To be honest, as long as we can run without any crashes I’m sure we can be in with a good result. This year [the organisers] have removed a lot of the slower invitational classes which should make the racing and managing traffic a lot better.
“In any case a podium result would be a fantastic result.
“Bathurst is probably my favourite track, especially as I started the 2015 race and for the first 30 minutes it was dark and then when the sun comes up and you are flat out over the top of the hill.
“It’s an amazing experience, it's one of those tracks where every lap is special.”
